This Next Generation

There’s a quiet responsibility that comes with raising children, one that isn’t always loud or obvious, but deeply felt. We are shaping hearts. Not just teaching manners or managing schedules, but helping form the kind of people our children will become, the way they see the world, how they respond to pressure, and what they believe when life feels uncertain.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to raise children in a time where voices are loud, opinions are constant, and the pull of culture can feel relentless. And I keep coming back to this truth:

It will take parents who are steady…

grounded in conviction, led by love, and rooted in faith, to help guide the next generation toward what is good, true, and life-giving. Not perfect parents. Not parents who have all the answers. But parents who are willing to stand with quiet confidence in what they believe, and model lives shaped by integrity, humility, and courage.

This kind of parenting isn’t about reacting to every headline or trend. It’s about formation, the slow, faithful work of pointing our children toward Christ in everyday moments. Around the dinner table. In hard conversations. In how we handle disappointment. In the way we extend grace.

Our children don’t need us to be loud. They need us to be anchored. They need to see what it looks like to live with conviction and compassion held together, to stand for what is right while loving deeply. And perhaps most importantly, they need to see parents who themselves are being formed, growing in faith, learning to listen to God, and returning again and again to what is true.

If you’re like me, there are days when you feel the weight of this calling. Days when you wonder if you’re doing enough. Days when you’re simply tired. On those days, I come back to the reminder that we are not raising our children alone. God is at work, patiently, faithfully, quietly, shaping both us and them.

We simply keep showing up. Keep loving. Keep pointing toward truth. Keep admitting when we get it wrong. Keep trusting that the seeds planted in faith will bear fruit in time.

If you’re longing for something to help anchor your own heart in truth as you lead your family, I created a simple resource to walk through Scripture-rooted reminders and encouragement for everyday life.
